My name is Jesse, but I also go by my dance name Ki'une. A long time ago, I found myself getting bored of the club scene because it seemed like everyone was dancing the same moves in the same spot all night. I wanted more. Dancing has been something I've always loved doing, and I decided to take all the styles I learned - salsa, ballroom, hip hop, popping, locking, breaking, bachata, contemporary, and more - and apply them in the clubs.
I experimented a LOT, especially with the partnering moves; I messed up a few times, started having a lot more fun in the clubs. Soon enough, I really figured things out and was flirting and creating attraction on the dance floor. I got used to surprising women with my dancing because most of them have never been led in the clubs, and NO ONE was doing what I was doing.
To learn what I'm sharing with you, I spent many years going to clubs 3-5 times a week. I don't know anyone who's gone to as many clubs as I have. I eventually started showing up really early to clubs (9pm!), or collected discount flyers like they were grocery coupons so I wouldn't go broke from the cover fees.
Eventually, I started visiting all kinds of clubs around the world - urban/hip hop, house, alternative, live venues, Latin, country, and many, many clubs where I was the single foreigner creating the party.
Along the way, heads turned and guys asked me to teach them how to dance so they could get a piece of the action. I've taught countless students of varying ages, sizes, and backgrounds to identify common problem areas. I also taught many couples who wanted to have more fun dancing, whether in a club or a social gathering. I pride myself more on being a great teacher rather than a good dancer.
Now I'm sharing what I've learned with you. I've documented my journey on video, Twitter, Facebook, and my personal development website. I've even put real in-club footage of my moves into my video programs. As you can see, everything I'm sharing has taken a long time to build and is the real deal.
On a personal note, I really love dancing, and I've taken my dance to greater levels through inspirational videos, that have no purpose than to bring smiles to people's faces. They've since been featured on wimp.com, a ton of popular Australian news sites (e.g. news.com.au), the Travel Channel, the Matador Network, national TV (Fuji) in Japan, where I'm well known... but that's not so important. What's important is that my teaching style connects with you!
I also blog about challenging yourself (dancing included!) on couragerepublic.com. I'm a lifelong learner, and hope I can inspire you to be the same. I understand 6 languages and have a background in engineering, music, fine art, and dance. I don't believe in limits, but I really believe in what I do and giving value. As such, I'm glad to be sharing my dance with you. I love what I'm doing, am grateful for each moment, and most of all, I sincerely thank you for your support.
